well after the weekends racing at Collier St Ron had a call from the promoters of the 500 sidecar association asking if he with Darren would like to take part in the Lester Goodwin Memorial International . so Ron and Darren took their place in the meeting,in 2 nd practice they had a good session ahead of Dutch number 2 team Mark detz and Linda vilfshaft Ron/Dyno stayed ahead of the dutch team for 3 laps.on going back into the pits mark asked Ron not too ride as good in the Races.they had a good day with 2 5ths  and a 3rd place in heat 3 ahead of fellow Britain keith Richards/?  and Dutch crew jo jo van de woof/Erik Van Dyke. in their last heat they had Euro Champion Matthijssen/Matthijssen  British champions Harvey/Hogg  British number 3  Wayne Read/Craig Mathison    top int team from holland  Wirenga/auwema  and fellow international Simon Beard  well Ron went to the line still shaking  and when the tapes rose he dropped the clutch hoping to make an impressum but too the dismay the bike hit neautral still he pulled into top gear and set about chasing the pack.to his amazement he stayed on the same straight app 15 meters behind  wirenga/auema  and read/mathison  so a great day.

Swingfield   Kent.  with Trevor back from his honeymoon it was straight back to buisness with the Astra clubs Champion of Champions meeting.on a very big and fast track on a hot sunny day the team went out in race 1 and got a 5th place they missed race 2 due to mechanicle problems but got out for race 3 and had a 4th place thus got them in the final to where a 5th place was achieved behind Father and Daughter Team of Nick and Abi Radley  Wayne read/?    British Champions Shaun Harvey/Danny Hogg   Mike Read/Mark Hopkins then Trev and Darren   a gearbox problem Robbed them of a better start but there William Matthijssen Tuned Engine really let rip and they soon caught mike Read but due to the very dusty conditions could not find away past. 

 

next meeting is the Tonbridge and Mallings   top class     Lester Goodwin Memorial  International which is bringing some of Europes  top solo and sidecar  men as also our mighty 1000cc sidecar teams together to honour a great sportsman who tragically lost his life in the 2007 British Final. not only was Lester a 6 times British Champion but a fantastic ambassador to our sport on the continent.
